Africa

You know that different places actually have their own unique fragrance. I'm not going to describe Albania's.... Tunisia actually has a perfumed air. I guess it must be the fig trees or something. But it actually has a lovely spicy scent.

El Gem, the third largest amphitheater in the world. Hard to imagine all the Christians and others eaten by lions on this very spot.

The market place is a riot of color (and obnoxious salesmen who won't take no for an answer).

Dave and Rachael making friends with the camel

Looks sweet doesn't it? Little would you know how much it really wants to spit at you.

I'm jealous. That camel looks like a shrunken head - you know the kind you buy at Disneyland with their mouths sewed shut...

But wow, the picture of the El Gem is stunning. I didn't think Albania smelled badly - at all.

So you went to that beautiful amphitheater and tried to imagine Christians and other eaten by lions? :-P

Hope your trip was wonderful, and camels had their own fun, too!

Terry, El Gem really was stunning, that's only one of a thousand pictures I took.

Well, as for Albania smelling badly, not all of it does, but here in Tirana I'm afraid, they wouldn't be selling many scratch and sniff postcards.

Ariel, I have to admit I didn't go to the amphitheater for the purpose of imagining the gruesome details of what passed for entertainment back in the time of the Romans. However, our tourguide described everything in such detail that it stuck in my mind. I guess all in all the world hasn't changed that much. Man still enjoys violent passtimes.
